Ganesha Blessing Ceremony

Ganesha Blessing Ceremony
Foreigners and Thais came together in a mystical ceremony of fire and fortune to worship the Hindu deity Ganesha at the Fantasy Art Group gallery in Bangtao on Sunday.
Pungent incense filled the air around Phuket-based fantasy artist Veerachan Usahanun’s Phuket studio and gallery, where the master of mystical art recently completed the 13th contemporary painting of the elephantine god in the “Miracles of Ganesha” collection.

A Nepalese Brahman conducted the Ganesha blessing ceremony in Sanskrit and led participants in making various offerings to Ganesha at an altar filled with fruit and others gifts fit for a god.

The lively ceremony included fire rituals and dance to celebrate Ganesha’s role as a conduit for creativity and inspiration. He is also worshipped as the remover of obstacles by followers, especially artists and musicians.

Artist Veerachan studied art in Vienna under some of the world’s top art teachers, before returning to Bangkok, Thailand, and has created fantasy portraits for a number of celebrities.

Over the past ten years, Veerachan has been dedicating all his artistic talent to creating “The Miracles of Ganesha” collection – a collection of large paintings on wood and canvas using a mixed media technique depicting the Lord Ganesha in contemporary illustrations of the elephantine god’s different traditional poses.

Artist Veerachan moved to Phuket about five years ago to continue working on the Miracles of Ganesha collection while drawing inspiration from Phuket’s natural beauty and marine life.

The Creator, Lord of Universal Rhythm and Rebirth are just some of the concepts covered in veerachan’s highly detailed and provocative paintings, which are on display at the Fantasy Art Group studio and gallery in Bangtao.
