Babysitting in Phuket

Babysitting in Phuket
When planning a holiday, you really want to figure out how to get a babysitter who is relatively inexpensive and most importantly dependable.
There are lots of families with young children heading to Phuket so this should be helpful.

Initially emailed the hotel and asked them about Babysitting - staying at Gracelands. They emailed back and said the price would be 350Baht per child per hour!  With 3 kids this was horrific - that is more expensive then in Australia. Googled some sites and found Phuket babysitting - www.phuketbabysitting.com  - emailed back and forth with Tracey (a New Zealander) who quoted approx 350B for all 3 children per hour.  Ended up booking with her for 2 nights. Lucky enough to get the same girl, Am, on both nights.  Even had to change a night last minute as plans changed and there was no problem arranging this (and no charge).  So  would highly recommend this company - great staff and easy to communicate with.

One thing to check on though is if the hotel allows outside babysitters in.  Had this problem with Gracelands (though not surprised - the hotel was terrible). They wanted to charge  1000B to have another guest in the room!!   Ended up moving hotels and ended up at the Holiday Inn. Their service was a million times better than Gracelands.  They offered a babysitting service as well - prices were:  1 child - 200B / hour,  2 child 250B / hour, 3 child 300B / hour. So very very reasonable. They also have a 'true' kids club - a kids club with activities and games for the kids - and their own kids swimming pool.  At the first hotel, they claimed to have kids club but really there was just a room with some toys in it - no activities - just a staff member in the room making sure the kids don't leave. They don't interact with them or anything. Very dismal.

Anyway - all in all, there are tonnes of options out there - some more appropriate than others!!
