Eating out

Eating out
Finding food in Phuket is absolutely no problem (however, finding something you recognize and feel comfortable about eating is another matter entirely). The city is teeming with restaurants catering to just about every mood and craving. Many Thai restaurants cater to a particular taste (Tom yam Kung, Phad Thai, Som Tam, or whatever the house specialty might be), however, it's not difficult to find establishments that serve enough of a variety to please the most picky eater.
Seafood restaurants are everywhere in Phuket City, Chalong Bay, Patong, Rawai, Kata, etc. as much as they are in a big hotels. Though seafood restaurants in general charge reasonable prices, some classy ones at major beaches serve seafood dishes with high international standard cooking, services and prices.

But don’t leave the island without also trying its local food, which is a fine blend of Thai, Malay and Chinese. Local food can be had in larger quantity and at lower prices in Phuket City than at any of the city’s popular beaches. Food stalls, which sell a wide range of local food, are everywhere along the beach front, on the roadside or in the market.

If you aren't a fan of Thai food, you'll still have plenty of options. Throughout the island you'll find restaurants serving every imaginable style of food from around the world.

Furthermore, finding good Thai, and Chinese dishes, is quite easy. Many Thais like to eat out in 'Food Streets' and this is something that visitors will find very interesting. It is a great experience and the food is tasty and inexpensive.

Phuket Market near Robinson Shopping Mall, at night the neon glow from number of hawker stalls electrifies the atmosphere of the streets. Seafood stalls line the pavements and local food stalls are equally thronged.

Patong Known mostly to foreign back-packers, this is the place to find the most economical accommodation and guest-houses. Most eating places in the area cater for budget-conscious diners. Many guest houses on Rat U-Thit road have open-air cafes serving standard Thai and International dishes. Other kinds of food to be found in this area include Indian, Jewish and Muslim.
