Watersports in Phuket
LOOK! UP IN THE SKY! IT'S A BIRD! IT'S A PLANE! NO! IT'S PARASAILING!
Sailing high up in the sky with a great view of the surrounding area that's parasailing on Patong Beach, the most popular watersport together with jetskiing.
Costing 700 baht for a few minutes ride it's surely not cheap, but you will soon forget it on your way up while screaming with joy.

Strapped to a parachute you are taken on a ride across the bay pulled by a speedboat. But first you have to get airborne by running a few meters down the beach before you are lifted up in the sky (if everything go as planed, sometimes more then one try is needed).

Going in for landing look up for blind tourists walking along the beach so you don't hit anyone. When the beach is packed with people you will land in the water instead of the beach. If you want, one of the Thais will go with you standing on your shoulders and steer you down safely.

Jet skiing hated by many, loved by others. A noisy dangerous craft that should be forbidden say those that hate it. Others see it like a action craft made for fun while going for full speed jumping over the waves as the ocean act like a race track with no limits, except to avoid hitting other boats that could come in the way or swimmers. But swimmers are safe so long they stay inside the swimming area marked by buoys.

Costing 600-700 baht for 30 minutes either you go along or with a friend. As with parasailing the jetski operator can go with you if wanted.

A warning:
Don't damage the craft (or yourself) for else you will have to pay or be taken down to the police station if you refuse. There is also a chance you have to pay if it's damaged before hiring, so if you want to avoid trouble check first before you hire.

Banana boat another popular activity when tourists want some action on the beach. And action it's what you get, so hold on tight while the big yellow banana is picking up speed skimming across the bay behind the speedboat. And after a fun and bumpy ride you will all fall in the water as the speedboat take a very sharp turn.

Sea Kayaking is the key to the secret world of Phang Nga Bay, which is filled with towering limestone stacks and islands. In some of these islands have mother nature worked hard over the years to create beautiful lagoons hidden deep inside.

Only accessible by kayak through up to 250 meters long dark caves and to make it even better one of them have thousands of bats hanging from the roof.

This hidden lagoons will only give you access at certain times of the day when the tide is just right, not too low, not too high.

At places the clearance can be very tight forcing you to lie flat on your back and sometimes it can be necessary to let out air from the kayak to get through. But once you get in to the lagoon the scenery is beautiful with mangrove forests in green water, surrounded by up to 1000 feet high limestone cliffs. Totally isolated from the outside world the only sound you will hear is from the birds singing.

Surfing is best at Kata Beach in rainy season (May-October) when waves from the Indian Ocean are hitting the western coast. And in September/October an international amateur championship named Quiksilver Phuket Surfing Contest is taking place here on Kata Yai Beach.

Windsurfing
is available at most popular beaches.

Water Skiing is available at Patong Beach.
